Liza Responds – Whenever I Get Nervous, I Break Into Song

Brooke is struggling with her habit of singing when she gets even slightly uncomfortable.

Brooke, I’ve noticed that many people who sing tend to live alone. I’m going to take a wild guess that you would fit into this category. So your uncontrollable singing is probably only an issue when you leave your home. The answer? Find someone who will harmonize with you. One person singing in public is often considered insane, but two people singing together is an act. Turn that deeply annoying habit into a wonderful performance! You may even find that total strangers start to give you money! Problem solved!

I am dying to see (hear) Brooke in the following situations:
    1) job interview
    2) date
    3) pulled over by a cop
    4) put on spot on national tv

Unless she can make it through all four without singing, I’m afraid this poor girl is doomed.

    Brooke, you need help!

    Ben says:

Coming from another nervous singer, I would be most appreciative if you could help Brooke with her problem. She would make an excellent spokeswoman for the thousands of people out there that suffer from this embarrassing affliction.

    Thanks in advance!

Brooke, I think you are SOO funny! Keep on singing! Singing is a great coping skill in stressful times, plus it makes others around you relax and or laugh with you. Best of luck in your audition!

    Linda says:

Yep, I remember the days when this began. It’s sad to see how far this disorder has progressed. I was hoping therapy would help. Alas, I fear Brooke’s Momma is correct. The damage from seeing bad musicals as a child has taken it’s toll and done possibly irreversible damage…

    Please help that girl! says:

Liza, Please help Brooke with this nervous habit or alternatively, encourage her to get voice lessons:>)

    Scott Kostylo says:

Personally, I think she talks too much. With such a lovely voice (and sense of humor), she should be singing all the time! This place can use some more singing. Cheer up, Brooke, you’re doing it right!

    Drewster says:

Starting with American Idol and continuing on with the intro of Glee to the modern world, everyone feels like they have to be able to sing to be noticed or worthwhile. Not so. Mostly it just hurts the ears. Not every CAN or needs to sing all the time.

Please help Brooke with this problem. It might heal a nation.
